We had a lovely Sunday at our first Messy Church looking at God being a protector / safe place who we can reach out to and trust, using the image of a bird keeping its young safe under its wings from Psalm 91.
We read the Psalm together and sang a part of it from here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyCfVKAe_lA
Children made nests from playdough, and ate nest cakes (real - not playdough!). We prayed for those we knew and others further away (children had wordsearches and colouring during prayers).
We then looked at John 14 - in my Father's house are many rooms.
Adults had a sermon on the way Jesus prepares a place for people to live, and people as a place for Him to live. Children made a many roomed house from either junk modelling or lego to engage with the theme.
I like this video song to help remember the words: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AU_81v9ujYs
